For years, laser treatments have been a popular form of facial rejuvenation and are well known at Renaissance Plastic Surgery for their anti-aging benefits. Traditionally, laser treatments have been dependent on two modalities: ablative or non-ablative. While each is a powerful tool in its own right, with these lasers, patients have had to sacrifice either results or time.

Halo introduces a new type of laser treatment—a hybrid fractional laser. The first of its kind, Halo takes advantages of both ablative and non-ablative laser technology.

What Is a Hybrid Fractional Laser?

To understand the importance of this duality, let us explore what ablative and non-ablative lasers are able to accomplish:

Ablative

The more invasive of the two, ablative lasers have long been considered one of the most effective treatments for improving significant signs of damaged or aging skin such as fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, and uneven pigmentation. By removing the outermost layers of dull and damaged skin, ablative lasers trigger the body’s natural healing response—causing increased collagen production and prompting the skin to restructure and rebuild itself from within.

Yielding tremendous results, ablative laser treatments do require a substantial recovery period. Often lasting one to two weeks, in which one may experience redness, swelling, oozing, and crusting of the skin.

Non Ablative

Far less invasive, non-ablative lasers gently heat up the underlying tissues without harming the surface of the skin. Stimulating collagen production, non-ablative laser treatments can address minor skin concerns, including fine lines and areas of light hyperpigmentation.

Unlike ablative lasers, non-ablative laser treatments have little to no downtime. Results, however, are less dramatic and may require a series of treatments.

Halo: A New Kind of Laser Treatment

Halo is unique in that in a single pulse, it is able to deliver both ablative and non-ablative energy. Offering full spectrum rejuvenation, Halo focuses energy deep within the skin (like that of an ablative laser) but leaves the surface of the skin nearly unaffected (just like a non-ablative laser). A perfect union of the two, Halo allows men and women to experience significant results with little downtime.
