Non-Surgical Volumizing Filler in St. Louis

Under your skin, there is a substance known as hyaluronic acid. It is what keeps your face looking full and youthful. However, as you get older, your face begins to lose fat, leaving you with a loss of facial volume and lax skin. Fortunately, there is a way to get back that fresh appearance from your youth—even without surgery. Voluma® is a new, FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler in St. Louis that can help restore volume to your face and give you a younger, naturally-beautiful look.

What areas of the face can Voluma® treat?

Voluma® is not quite like other dermal fillers in that it is especially effective for restoring larger amounts of volume. Voluma® is made by Allergan—the same company behind the popular Juvéderm® and BOTOX®.

Our St. Louis registered nurse uses Voluma® to help patients achieve a more youthful, fuller facial appearance. This hyaluronic acid-based filler is best when used to restore volume to the cheeks, helping to provide patients with a subtle lift. However, Voluma® can also be helpful in adding definition to the jawline and chin.

For a fuller facial rejuvenation, you may choose to combine your Voluma® treatment with other filler treatments or injectables. During your consultation, we will carefully listen to your goals and expectations to determine which treatments may be necessary. The goal of our non-surgical filler treatments is to provide you with beautiful results that appear completely natural. Nobody has to know you had any work done unless you tell them yourself!

Voluma® Results and Recovery

Voluma® is a non-surgical filler treatment that requires no downtime or recovery on your part. Your treatment should only take about a half hour, after which you can get back to work or to doing whatever else you had planned for the rest of your day. Because hyaluronic acid is a natural substance in your body, there is very little chance of allergic reactions with Voluma®. You may experience some mild bruising or redness, but these should fade over the next day or so.

You should notice an immediate change in your appearance following your Voluma® treatment. Your face will appear younger, well-contoured, and even slightly lifted than before your treatment session. A single Voluma® treatment with Renaissance Plastic Surgery can last for up to two full years. Once you notice the results begin to fade, we welcome you to return for touch-up treatments for a graceful aging process.

Who is a candidate for Voluma?

Adults who are concerned about deflation in the cheek region are often good candidates for Voluma. Volume loss in the mid-face is a major contributor to changes in facial profile. A younger face is rounder, with higher cheekbones. Aging flattens the cheek region, causing the lower face to appear wider and looser. To be a good candidate for Voluma, it is important to have realistic expectations of what this filler can achieve. Our goal is to restore a natural, lifted contour to the mid-face. Though the localized change is subtle, the overall improvement in facial structure can be profound.

What are the benefits of Voluma?

Voluma is an excellent treatment for age-related contour changes in the mid-face. Benefits of having Juvederm® Voluma XC injections include: - The gel smooths, lifts, and contours the cheeks immediately. - Voluma restores fullness to the skin. - The cheeks appear rounder and more defined, which contributes to a youthful appearance. - Results from treatment look natural and can last up to two years. - Voluma is a minimally-invasive injectable treatment with no downtime.

What are the side effects of Voluma?

Patients often go right back to work and other normal activities after getting Voluma cheek injections. Side effects like redness, swelling, itching, and mild soreness are common but typically last no more than a few hours. To keep side effects like redness, swelling, and potential bruising to a minimum, patients may be advised to avoid excessive heat and strenuous exercise for about 24 hours.

Are Voluma injections painful?

Voluma injections may be mildly uncomfortable. However, the filler contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic that prevents pain. Most people who undergo Voluma treatment rate it as very tolerable.

How long will my Voluma results last?

The results of dermal fillers last as long as it takes the body to absorb the product. This can vary. However, Voluma’s formulation and dense hyaluronic acid particles prolong the absorption process. Most patients do not seek retreatment for two years.

How many Voluma treatments will I need?

Voluma is designed to immediately improve the contours of the mid-face in a single treatment. That said, some people schedule a touch-up a few weeks after Voluma injections to achieve more contouring and lift.
